Pub? / Legal
Terms of Use
Effective date: 29 October 2026
About these terms
Pub? is a mobile app run by me, Fintan Lyons. By creating an account or using the app you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy.
You must be 18 or over to use Pub?.
Your account
- Keep your sign-in details to yourself. You're responsible for what happens on your account.
- One person per account. Don't pretend to be someone else.
- Log the pubs you've actually been to. Points and leaderboards are only fun when they're honest.
No tolerance for abuse
Other people see your username, profile photo, league names and reviews. None of them may be:
- hateful, racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic or otherwise discriminatory
- threatening, harassing or bullying
- sexually explicit, violent or otherwise offensive
- spam, adverts, or someone else's personal details
- illegal, or encouraging drinking irresponsibly
Pub? filters some words automatically, but that won't catch everything, so you can report anything that slips through.
Reporting and blocking
- Report someone from the … menu on their profile, or a review from the … next to it. Reports are private: the person isn't told who sent one.
- I look at every report within 24 hours and remove content that breaks these terms. Depending on what happened I may reset a username, remove a photo or review, or close the account.
- Block someone from the same menus. They can't find you, add you as a friend or invite you to a league, and you won't see each other's reviews. Unblock them any time in Profile › Settings › Blocked users.
Pub information
Pub details, opening hours and photos come from public sources and from users, and may be out of date. Check before you travel.
Suggestions you send for pubs (edits, photos, missing pubs) may be used to improve the map.
Your photos, reviews and suggestions
- They stay yours. By sending them you let Pub? store them and show them in the app (resized or cropped where needed), for as long as Pub? runs.
- Only send photos you took yourself or have the right to share, and don't post photos of people who haven't agreed.
- Reviews, your username and your profile photo are removed when you delete your account. Pub photos and corrections that have been added to the map stay on it, without your name.
Points and leaderboards
- Points, levels and trophies are just for fun. They have no cash value and can't be swapped for anything.
- The scoring rules and the list of pubs can change, for example when a place that isn't a pub is taken off the map. Your points are then worked out again, and can go down as well as up.
Drink responsibly
- Pub? is about finding pubs, not drinking more. Nobody needs a drink in every pub to tick it off.
- You're responsible for your own drinking and for getting home safely. Never drink and drive, and follow each pub's own rules.
Tips
- “Buy me a pint” tips are optional, go to me personally to help cover running costs, and don't unlock anything in the app. They aren't refundable, except where the law says otherwise.
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in Profile › Settings or on the delete account page.
I can suspend or close accounts that break these terms.
The small print
Pub? is provided as it is, free of charge. I do my best to keep it running and accurate but can't promise it always will be.
I'm not responsible for losses caused by things outside my control, by relying on pub details that turn out to be wrong, or by how you use the app. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under UK consumer law, or any liability that can't legally be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
If you downloaded Pub? from the App Store, Apple's standard licence agreement also applies. These terms are between you and me, not Apple, and Apple isn't responsible for the app or for supporting it.
These terms may change as the app does; the date at the top shows the latest version. Using the app after a change means you accept it.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
