01 / The map

Every pub in London on one map

Every pub across London and Cambridge, with photos, opening hours and directions. Tick off the ones you've been to and watch each postcode fill in.

Search for a pub, a postcode or a neighbourhood, or both at once: "red lion clapham" finds it, even spelt wrong.

02 / Postcodes

Finish a postcode, then the next one

Every postcode on your profile fills up as you go, and turns green when it's done. Zoom in on the map and it tells you how many are left in the postcode you're looking at. Finish one for a bonus, then finish a whole letter area for a bigger one.

Scoring

How points work

Every pub counts the same. The big points come from finishing things, so the best way up the leaderboard is to go somewhere new rather than back to your local.

You go up a level every 50 points.

FAQ

Questions

What counts as a pub?

Anywhere that passes the Pub? test. The basics: anyone can walk in, you can drink without eating, and serving drinks is its main job. Then five pub rules: you order at the bar, beer on tap is the main event, it's open in the daytime, nobody checks your shoes, and you can hear yourself talk.

So these aren't on the map:

  • Cocktail bars and wine bars
  • Brewery taprooms
  • Restaurants
  • Private members' clubs
  • Hotel bars just for guests

A pub that brews its own beer still counts. See the full test →

Why isn't my local on the map?

It may not pass the Pub? test, or it may just be missing. Tap the add-a-pub button at the bottom left of the map and send the address. Every report is checked by hand, and if it's approved the pub goes on the map and you get 20 points.

A pub has closed, or its details are wrong

Open the pub and tap Suggest an edit for the name, address, hours, website or features, or flag a photo that's wrong. Approved fixes are worth 5 points.

How does it know I've been?

It doesn't. You tick pubs off yourself. It runs on trust, so it's only as honest as your friends are.

Can my friends see which pubs I've been to?

Yes by default. Accepted friends can see your pubs and compare maps with you. Turn off Show my pubs to friends in Profile settings and they'll only see your totals. People in your leagues see your pubs on the league map, unless you turn off Show my pubs to my leagues. Anyone else only sees your username and totals.

How do I block or report someone?

Tap the three dots on their profile or on their review and choose Block or Report. Blocking stops them finding you, adding you or inviting you, and they aren't told. Every report is read within 24 hours. Unblock people in Profile settings, Blocked users. See the terms.

Does it track my location?

Only while the app is open, to show you on the map and sort search results by distance. Your location isn't saved to your account. See the privacy policy.

What does it cost?

Nothing. It's free on iPhone and Android, with no ads and no in-app purchases.

If you'd like to chip in anyway, you can buy me a pint.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Profile, then settings, then Delete account. That removes everything straight away. If you no longer have the app, use the delete account page.
